The Adventures of ForkMan

Rate this book
Forkman was an idea that came about at the kitchen table with my children when we would talk in a family setting and I would make the fork come alive. They would giggle at Forkman, explaining the proper way to sit at the table for dinner. I was a plant manager for a bakery and spent many hours working and managing the facility, and our only family time was sitting at the table and talking. Our four children ranging from one to sixteen years of age loved the stories told at dinner. Our oldest two had the opportunity to take etiquette lessons in Florida when we would vacation there at my parents. They remember those lessons and The Adventures of Forkman was a way to share these experiences with other children.

What’s that noise is Chapters 3 and 4 of The Adventures of Forkman series. In this book, Forkman is teaching the children to load the dishwasher properly and proper manners at the table. In chapter 3, I love the way Forkman teaches to load the dishwasher, putting each piece in its proper place. In chapter 4, Forkman is teaching the right manners at the table. No burping or other rude noises!

What a great way to use eating utensils to teach our children the right things to do in helping in the kitchen and using our best manners while at table eating with the family. I like the emphasis on how meals are a family time where family can talk about things important to them.

And the illustrations created by Vanessa Alexandre are so adorable. I love the characters, the family, the vivid colors, all fit so well and work perfectly with the story that’s written. The faces are so cute that smaller children will love looking at the pictures throughout the book. All in all this is a wonderful book inside and out. And I give this one Five Stars!

This book and all of the books in the Adventures of Forkman are a must in you child’s home library. It is well worth your purchase.

A delightfully unique story! I really enjoyed it! In the first chapter of the book, children are taught, in a fun way, how to set the table. I loved the alliterative names for the utensils - Forkman, Natalie Napkin, Clara Cup, Pete the Plate, SpoonDude, and Knifeguy.

Then in the second chapter, Kathryn and William learn to clean up after the meal with the help of their friend Forkman. They clear the table, put away the food, clear the scraps, clean the dishes, wipe the table using Sarah Sponge, and sweep the floor using Brittney the Broom. They realize that by working together, they were able to put everything away in no time.

The illustrations are bright and fun! The caped Forkman saves the day!

This book put a smile on my face. Perfect for all families with young children.

I read this book with my 9 and 7 year old boys. This book could not have come at a better time. We have been struggling and forgetting how to use our manners. This is a book all about table manners. My boys loved that the superhero was a fork. Forkman helps the kids to stay on track when it's their favorite night - Game Night! But first - they have to load the dishwasher. I love how fun the author made this chore - it actually helped in my household. My boys now pick up "Forkman" and ask what the next step is in clearing the table.
This book is well written, beautifully illustrated and a fun read. The book does start on chapter 3 - but it rolls nicely.
Thank you to Iread Book tours and the author for allowing me to read and review this book.
